Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2019-10-09

Offshore: Winds will be Northwesterly at 15 to 20 knots shifting southerly from the south before dawn and reaching 25 knots at times, with 1-2m seas. North Reef has had cobia and jew fish around the bait schools, along with quality snapper, grass sweetlip, Maori cod and some big pearl perch. Double Island Point theres been good snapper to about 4kg, plus amberjack, plenty of tuskies and some gold spot wrasse. Sunshine Reef big tusk fish, grass sweetlip and cobia. Spangled emperor, snapper, amberjack and yellowtail kingfish from the Barwon Banks. Snapper, tusk fish and tuna from Mooloolaba 8 mile reef.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Trevally and queenfish in Woods Bay. Trevally and flathead from Munna Bridge. Whiting from dog beach, river mouth and the frying pan. Flathead, queenfish and bream between the lakes and along tewantin stretch. Whiting and flathead in lake Cooroibah.

Maroochydore: Quality flathead and whiting from Cotton Tree. Jew off the beach at Yaroomba. Big flathead in the middle river. Golden and giant trevally under the motorway bridge. Whiting throughout the lower river. Mangrove jack and estuary cod in the creeks. Mud crabs potted up the creeks.

Mooloolaba: Whiting from Mountain Creek and the La Balsa sand basin. Bream and trevally from the boat moorings. Flathead and trevally in Mooloolaba Canals. Cod and trevally from Kawana Waters. Bream and jack from the Parrearra Weir.

Caloundra: Whiting, flathead and bream from golden beach. Flathead in the deeper channels of the northern passage and in the mouth of Coochin Creek. Trevally, cod and mangrove jack in Pelican Waters. Few mud crabs in the creeks.
