Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2019-12-18

Offshore: Winds will be blowing East to southeasterly at 15 to 20 knots easing to 10 to 15 knots in the evening, with 1.5 to 2 metres, decreasing below 1.5 metres around midday. Get geared up for Thursday and Friday with conditions improving greatly. Sunshine Reef has had Spanish mackerel, spotty mackerel, cobia, mac tuna, big yellow fin tuna and snapper. Cougar One skipper fished North Reef for big grass sweetlip, Maori Cod, mosese perch, gold spot cod and small snapper. The Barwon Banks has recently had good catches of snapper, Mahi Mahi, cobia, tusk fish, moses perch, pearl perch, Maori cod and mackerel. Spotty and a few spanish mackerel, cobia, sweetlip and snapper from Caloundra 12 mile reef. Spotty mackerel to 90cm from Caloundra 5 mile.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Queenfish, giant trevally and flathead in Weyba Creek. Diamond and tea leaf trevally and flathead from the current line between the river mouth and Woods Bays. Big flathead and queenfish from Tewantin Reach. A few good jacks from between the lakes. Whiting from the frying pan and Munna Point.

Maroochydore: Queenfish and flathead from Bli Bli reach. Whiting, bream, flathead and mangrove jack from the lower river. Flathead and mangrove jack in the creeks. School jew, queenfish, trevally, mangrove jack and flathead in Maroochy Waters canal.

Mooloolaba: Dart off the beach at Warana. Diamond and giant trevally in the Kawana Waters canals. Flathead, mangrove jack and giant trevally in the Mooloolaba canals. Bream and cod around the moorings. Mangrove jack from the Twin bridges and rocky areas of the middle river.

Caloundra: Dart off the beach at Currimundi. Whiting in Currimundi lake and mangrove jack in Currimundi Creek. Whiting and some big flathead from Golden Beach. Bream and trevally in Pelican Waters.
