Local Fishing Report: Monday 2020-02-17

Offshore: Winds will be East to southeasterly at 15 to 20 knots, easing to 10 to 15 knots in the evening, with 1-1.5m seas and 1m of swell. Hall's Reefs have been producing spanish mackerel and small snapper. Spanish mackerel from Currimundi Reef. Spotty and spanish mackerel from Coolum. Caloundra 5 mile reef has had a few solid spanish mackerel.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: A few large flathead caught and released between Woods bays and Gympie Terrace stretch. Trevally, flathead and mangrove jack in Woods Bays. A few good jacks and grunter bream from the ski run. Quality elbow slapper whiting throughout the lower river. Mud crabs on the move throughout the river.

Maroochydore: Mud crabs throughout the river. Trevally and giant herring on the making tide in the lower river. Bream from Twin Waters and Cotton Tree. Whiting throughout the lower river. Mangrove jack from the cod hole and Twin Waters Canal. Flathead from the mouth of Eudlo Creek.

Mooloolaba: Whiting and grunter bream in Mountain creek and Kawana Canals. Estuary cod and bream from the Twin Bridges. Bream and golden trevally from the boat moorings. Mud crabs in the canals and lower river.

Caloundra: Trevally, bream and tarwhine between the bar and Coast guard jetty on the last of the incoming tide. Flathead in Bells Creek. Mud crabs throughout the passage. Quality whiting on the banks out from Golden Beach.

Harry Somlyay 59cm Flathead Zerek Tango Shad Released 

Harry Somlyay with a 59cm dusky flathead that ate his Zerek Tango shad in murky water, in the middle Maroochy River and was released after a few quick photos.
