2011 Fishing Reports

Local Fishing Report: Thursday 10/11/2011

Noosa: Snapper, pearl perch and yellowtail king fish out from Double Island point. Mangrove jacks throughout the river with good numbers turning up around the lakes on hard body lures and live bait. Diamond and golden trevally from woods bay on surface lures, live bait and soft plastics.

Maroochydore: Mangrove jacks and trevally around Coolum creek. Golden trevally from the Cod hole during the start of the run out tide. Good numbers of whiting from Mudjimba beach, the river mouth and Cotton tree on live worms and nippers.

Kawana: Tusk fish and snapper to 4.5kg on soft plastics from Inner gneerings. Cobia to 4kg , tusk fish and Yellow tail King fish up to 10kg from the Blinker. Silver and golden trevally throughout the lower river. Whiting and flathead from the Sand Basin, La Balsa park and on the flats above McKenzie’s bridge.

Caloundra: Snapper from Caloundra 12 mile during the dawn and dusk. Whiting and bream from Golden beach. Good numbers of trevally in Pelican waters canals. Flathead and bream off the boardwalk. Good size mangrove jacks from Bells creek on live bait.

Jason Armstrong fished the Inner Gneerings early in the morning using Z-man soft plastics to boat these two snapper that went up to 4.5kg

Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 09/11/2011

Noosa: Snapper, pearl perch and yellowtail king fish out from Double Island point. Bream and plenty of dusky flathead around the river mouth. Mangrove jack between the lakes. Chopper tailor, trevally and jacks in Woods Bays.

Maroochydore: Jew and bream off the beach on Maroochy North shore. Mangrove jack around the 50cm size throughout the middle and upper reaches of the Maroochy River. A few big flathead have been caught and released from the Cod hole and Maroochy river mouth.

Kawana: Maori Cod to 3kg, parrot to 1.5kg, trag jew, green job fish and snapper to 5kg on the 70m mark at the Barwon Banks. Trevally throughout the lower river on soft plastics and live bait. Bream and whiting from the Mooloolaba boat ramp pontoon at night.

Caloundra: Snapper and sweetlip off the rocks at Kings Beach. Whiting and bream from Golden beach and out from the Power boat club on the incoming tide . Some good mangrove jack in Coochin and Bells creeks and Pelican Waters canals.

Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 08/11/2011

Noosa: Snapper, pearl perch and yellowtail king fish out from Double Island point. Mangrove jacks throughout the river with good numbers turning up around the lakes on hard body lures and live bait. Good numbers of trevally around the 60cm mark from Tewantin.  

Maroochydore: Jew and bream off the beach on Maroochy North shore. Mangrove jacks and trevally around Coolum creek. Golden trevally from the Cod hole during the start of the run out tide. A few big flathead have been caught and released from the Cod hole and Maroochy river mouth.

Kawana: Tusk fish, sweetlip and snapper from Murphy’s reef, Inner gneerings and the Blinker. Silver and golden trevally throughout the lower river. Large number of bream throughout the river system. Exceptional catches of whiting and flathead from the Sand Basin, La Balsa park and on the flats above McKenzie’s bridge.

Caloundra: Snapper and sweetlip off the rocks at Kings Beach. Whiting and bream from Golden beach and out from the Power boat club on the incoming tide. Flathead and bream off the boardwalk. Good size mangrove jacks from Bells creek on live bait.

Local Fishing Report: Monday 07/11/2011

Noosa: Bream and plenty of dusky flathead around the river mouth. Flathead from Webya creek and in Lake Cooroibah. Mangrove jack between the lakes. Chopper tailor, trevally and jacks in Woods Bays.

Maroochydore:  Jew to 90cm taken and a few missed, off the beach on Maroochy North shore over night. Sand crabs in the lower Maroochy and a few mud crabs although mostly females from the Bli Bli Islands. Mangrove jack around the 50cm size throughout the middle and upper reaches of the Maroochy River. Whiting from black banks. Tailor from the sand bags.  

Kawana: Maori Cod to 3kg, parrot to 1.5kg, trag jew, green job fish and snapper to 5kg on the 70m mark at the Barwon Banks. Spanish mackerel on Coolum Reef and a few school mackerel on the Outer Gneerings. Trevally throughout the lower river. Tailor from the Kawana rock wall and off Point Cartwright in the evenings.

Caloundra: Snapper and sweetlip off the rocks at Kings Beach. Whiting  Tailor and flathead from the NE tip of Bribie.  Whiting and dart from Golden beach.  Some good mangrove jack in Coochin and Bells creeks and Pelican Waters canals.

Neil Dale the jew whisperer is at it again fishing the early hours of the morning from Maroochy North Shore for a couple of quality jew around the 90cm mark.


Local Fishing Report: Sunday 06/11/2011

Noosa: Try offshore for a few snapper, sweetlip and mackerel  on local reefs. Bream, whiting and trevally from the river mouth. Flathead around the 60cm mark from Webya creek on live bait and soft plastics. Mangorve jack feeding in snaggy territory  throughout the river. Bream, jacks and flathead between the lakes.

Maroochydore:  Jew to 90cm taken and a few missed, off the beach on Maroochy North shore over night. Sand crabs in the lower Maroochy and a few mud crabs although mostly females from the Bli Bli Islands. Mangrove jack around the 50cm size throughout the middle and upper reaches of the Maroochy River. Scattered schools of whiting around the river mouth. Flathead to 64cm from the mouth of Petrie creek on soft plastics. Dart and bream along Mudjimba beach.

KawanaSpanish mackerel on Coolum Reef and a few school mackerel on the Outer Gneerings. Sand crabs in mouth of the Mooloolah River.  Whiting have been taking live worms and yabbies on the flats above McKenzie’s bridge and a few trevally around McKenzies Bridge. Trevally and bream along La Balsa and around the boat moorings.

Caloundra: Jew, the odd tailor and a few GT”s around the bar.  Whiting and dart from Golden beach. Try for flathead around the mouth of Bells creek on the edge of the weed banks. Some good mangrove jack in Coochin and Bells creeks and Pelican Waters canals.
