2012 Fishing Reports

Local Fishing Report: Monday 12/11/2012

Noosa: Lighter winds today mean it’s time to try local reefs for a few reefies and pelagic, like cobia to 7kg. Jew to 9kg and tailor to 4kg at Double Island Point overnight. Flathead, bream and whiting from the frying pan and Noosaville stretch. Mangrove jack and threadfin salmon to 5kg around Lake Cootharaba. Trevally to 3kg and jacks in the Sound.

Maroochydore: With the New moon tomorrow it will be worth trying for jew at the Cod Hole, the river mouth and along North Shore particularly overnight. Jacks, jew, cod and bream in the Cod Hole area. Tailor between Chambers Island and Eudlo Creek on trolled Zerek Long Trail lures. Flathead above Bli Bli bridge. Whiting in the Maroochy Waters Canal. Been a few mud crabs up above Bli Bli and around Coolum Creek.

Kawana: As the wind drops out today it will be worth trying offshore for snapper and cobia or along Southern Kawana Beach for bream , flathead, whiting and dart. Good flathead and estuary cod on trolled hard bodied lures along Kawana Way reach. Good whiting and a few crabs in Mountain Creek and around McKenzie’s Bridge.

Caloundra: Flathead and bream in the Blue Hole. Tailor and golden trevally in Pelican Waters Canals. Mangrove jack in Coochin Creek. Whiting opposite the power boat club. Big whiting and jacks in lake Currimundi. Worth putting the pots in the creeks for a few mud crabs.

Local Fishing Report: Sunday 11/11/2012

Noosa: Whiting and dart along Teewah Beach. Jew and tailor to 4kg at Double Island Point overnight. Flathead, bream and whiting from the frying pan and Noosaville stretch. Mangrove jack and threadfin salmon to 5kg around Lake Cootharaba. Trevally to 3kg and jacks in the Sound. Trevally and flathead from Munna Bridge.

Maroochydore: Bream to 960g form the bags. Jacks, jew, cod and bream in the Cod Hole area. Jew to 8kg at the river mouth and along North Shore overnight. Tailor between Chambers Island and Eudlo Creek on trolled Zerek Long Trail lures. Flathead above Bli Bli bridge. Whiting in the Maroochy Waters Canal. Mud crabs in the middle reaches.

Local Fishing Report: Thursday 03/05/2012

Noosa: Due to the recent rains the mud crabs have been on the move with many being caught around the lakes. Flathead, bream and the occasional tailor off Teewah and Double Island. Mangrove jack, grunter bream and flathead from Woods Bay.

Maroochydore: Whiting and flathead from Mudjimba beach on sand worms during the incoming tide in the afternoon. Trevally and mangrove jacks around the Bli Bli Islands and Maroochy waters Canals. Plenty of bream around Goat and Channel island. Petrie creek has been fishing well for flathead and trevally. Good numbers of Mud crabs around the middle reaches and in the creeks.

Kawana: Big bream are starting to show up on the beaches along with the odd tailor. La Balsa Park and the rock walls have been producing good numbers of bream, trevally and the odd flathead. Grunter bream and flathead from McKenzie's bridge. Mud crabs throughout the upper river system.

Caloundra: Grunter bream and flathead from Coochin Creek during the incoming tide. Bream, trevally and Queenfish in Pelican waters canals, Military jetty and the Board walk. Whiting to 34cm are well scattered at the Caloundra end of the passage. Mud crabs are showing up in numbers around the middle reaches of the passage.

Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 02/05/2012

Noosa: Due to the recent rains the mud crabs have been on the move with many being caught around the lakes. Flathead, bream and the occasional tailor off Teewah and Double Island. Mangrove jack, grunter bream and flathead from Woods Bay.

Maroochydore: Trevally and mangrove jacks around the Bli Bli Islands and Maroochy waters Canals on live bait. Plenty of bream around Goat and Channel island. Petrie creek has been fishing well for flathead and trevally. Good numbers of Mud crabs around the middle reaches and in the creeks.

Kawana: La Balsa Park and the rock walls have been producing good numbers of bream, trevally and the odd flathead. Grunter bream and flathead from McKenzie's bridge. Mud crabs throughout the upper river system.

Attached: Jimmy was casting soft plastics around the mouth when hooked onto this monster flathead that measured to 91cm, he released the big girl back into the system after a few photo to fight another day.

Local Fishing Report: Monday 30/04/2012

Noosa: Due to the blistering winds and 3m swell offshore fishing would not be advised until the conditions settled down. Jacks, flathead and whiting to 43cm from Woods bay. Grunter bream and mud crabs from the Lakes.

Maroochydore: Bream to 33cm in the Cod Hole and from the Pin Cushion. There's still a few good Flathead to 60cm from Chambers Island and Picnic Point. Despite the cooler conditions there's still been a few jacks caught around the Bli Bli Islands and Maroochy waters Canals. Trevally form Twin Waters and Godfrey' Road.

Kawana: La Balsa Park has been producing good numbers of bream during the run out tide at night. Grunter bream, whiting and flathead from McKenzie's bridge. Mud crabs throughout the upper river system.

Caloundra: As the water cools down the bream will be coming into the passage in large numbers to spawn so try around the river mouth and deeper holes for a feed. Whiting to 34cm are well scattered at the Caloundra end of the passage. Queenfish and trevally in Pelican Waters on surface lures and live baits.

Attachment: Garry Norris was fishing off Noosa at Halls Reef when he landed and released this Mantra which took a smaller fish that he was retrieving, what a Catch!
