2012 Fishing Reports

Local Fishing Report: Friday 20/04/2012

Noosa: Whiting up to 38cm  and a few big flathead in the lower reaches. Jacks around the 2kg along the Tewantin Ski run. Tailor north of Teewah. The odd Jewfish and dart from Teewah beach at night. Mud crabs the upper reaches.

 

Maroochydore:  A few big female flathead pushing the 90cm mark have been caught and released from the River mouth. Jewfish around the 80cm mark from the Cod Hole at night. Bream from the cod hole boat ramp. Flathead and mud crabs in Maroochy Waters Canal.

 

Kawana: Bream and trevally from the Kawana boat ramp pontoon at night. Jew and flathead from the twin bridges. Moses perch from the Mooloolaba moorings. Mud crabs throughout the upper river system.

 

Caloundra:  Whiting and flathead from Currimundi lake mouth entrance. Flathead, bream and trevally from Bells creek and the Boardwalk. Still plenty mud crabs and grunter throughout the upper reaches of the passage.

Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 17/04/2012

Noosa: With the swell and winds dropping the early mornings will be ideal for offshore fishing with Friday looking to be the pick of the week. Tuna and spotty mackerel around the close inshore reefs. Flathead, mangrove jacks and some big bream in Woods Bay and up Weyba Creek. Mud crabs the upper reaches.

Maroochydore: The mud crabs will be on the move after the heavy rains and the creeks will be sure to produce a few big bucks . A few tailor and dart along the north shore. Whiting from around Goat, Channel Islands during the making tide. Bream during the early morning around Chambers Island. Jewfish around the 80cm mark from the Cod Hole.

Kawana: Long tail tuna and spotty mackerel working the bait schools between Old Women Island, keep an eye out for bird activity to locate the feeding schools. After the rain try the upper reaches for grunter. Bream and trevally from the Kawana boat ramp pontoon. Mud crabs throughout the upper river system.

Caloundra: A few good dart and school jew between Buddina and Currimundi. Flathead have been taking soft plastics and live baits from Bells creek mouth, Military jetty, and the Boardwalk.. Mud crabs and grunter throughout the upper reaches of the passage.

Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 18/04/2012

Noosa: With the winds easing Sunshine and North have fished well for Mahi Mahi, coral trout, cobia and parrot. Whiting up to 38cm around the lower reaches and mangrove jack around the 2kg along the Tewantin Ski run. Mud crabs the upper reaches.

Maroochydore: The mud crabs will be on the move after the heavy rains and the creeks will be sure to produce a few big bucks . Dart and whiting along the north shore and off Coolum beach. Whiting from around Goat, Channel Islands during the making tide. Jewfish around the 80cm mark from the Cod Hole.

Local Fishing Report: Monday 16/04/2012

Noosa: With the swell and winds dropping the early mornings will be ideal for offshore fishing with Friday looking to be the pick of the week. Try for bream, flathead and whiting between Munna Point and the river mouth. Flathead, mangrove jacks and some big bream in Woods Bay and up Weyba Creek. Mud crabs the upper reaches.

Maroochydore: The odd tailor and good flathead from Maroochy River mouth and Cotton Tree area. A few tailor and dart along the north shore. Flathead and a few whiting from around Goat, Channel Islands. Bream have been taking surface lures during the early morning around Chambers Island. Mud crabs up Petrie Creek and above Bli Bli bridge.

Kawana: There are plenty of long tail tuna and spotty mackerel working the bait schools between Old Women Island and Coolum. Bream and trevally on top of the tide off the rock walls and around the boat moorings on live herring or fresh prawns. Mud crabs throughout the upper river system.

Caloundra: A few good dart and school jew between Buddina and Currimundi. Flathead have been taking soft plastics and live baits from Bells creek mouth, Military jetty, and the Boardwalk. Bream and trevally in the canals. Mud crabs and grunter throughout the upper reaches of the passage.

Local Fishing Report: Sunday 15/04/2012

Noosa: A few tuna and mackerel out in the bay and around close in local reefs as the wind and squally showers eased back a bit yesterday. Try for bream, flathead and whiting between Munna Point and the river mouth. Flathead in Woods Bay and up Weyba Creek. Mangrove jack and a few trevally in Woods Bay and Weyba Creek. Mud crabs the upper reaches.

Maroochydore: The odd tailor and good flathead from Maroochy River mouth and Cotton Tree area. A few tailor and dart along the north shore. Flathead and a few whiting from around Goat, Channel Islands. A few mud crabs up Petrie Creek and above Bli Bli bridge.

Bream and trevally on top of the tide off the rock walls and around the boat moorings on live herring or fresh prawns. Golden trevally and flathead along La Balsa and the lower river. Mud crabs throughout the upper river system.

Caloundra: A few good dart and school jew between Buddina and Currimundi. Bream and flathead showing up right throughout the passage. Bream and trevally in the Pelican Waters Canals on prawns. Mud crabs and grunter throughout the upper reaches of the passage.
