Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2019-11-30

Offshore: Conditions will be choppy to rough later on today, with winds northeasterly 10 to 15 knots turning northerly 15 to 20 knots early in the morning and reaching 20 to 25 knots south of Maroochydore in the late afternoon and evening, with seas around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 2 metres during the afternoon. Tomorrow is looking like rough conditions as well with winds northerly 20 to 30 knots and seas 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Double Island Point has had a few big cobia, red emperor to 14kg, scarlet sea perch, jewfish, and Spanish mackerel along with venus tusk fish, pearl perch and goldband snapper. Dolphin fish, cobia, spanish mackerel, grass sweetlip, coral trout, snapper and venus tusk fish from Sunshine Reef. Deep End fishing charters fished the northern Banks also for pig fish, venus tusk, pearl perch, slatey bream and hussar. Pan size snapper, mackerel, moses perch, estuary cod and grassy sweetlip from Coolum Reef. Sweetlip, moses perch, spangled emperor and venus tusk fish from . Spotty and a few spanish mackerel, cobia and small snapper form Caloundra 12 and 5 mile.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Trevally, bream and big flathead being caught and some released in the lower river and Woods Bay areas. A few good whiting showing up from throughout the river and the frying pan. Flathead and bream along the Tewantin stretch as well.

Maroochydore: With the New Moon Phase the fish will be on the bite. Try the beaches, headlands and Cod Hole or river mouth for Jew that are on the prowl! Try for whiting throughout the lower river. Trevally from Picnic Point on the incoming tide. Some good flathead feeding, 91cm flathead was caught and released in Petrie Creek. Mangrove jack and cod from the snaggy areas in creeks and upper river. A few mud crabs in the creeks

Mooloolaba: Whiting from Mountain Creek area and the twin bridges. A few good bream, plenty of nice flathead and trevally in the lower river and around the moorings. Bream and Mangrove jack and a few mud crabs in the creeks and upper river and from the Parrearra Weir.

Caloundra: Whiting and some big flathead from Golden Beach. Trevally, cod and mangrove jack in the creeks and Pelican Waters. Few sand crabs between the bar and Bells Creek.

Local Fishing Report: Thursday 2019-11-28

Offshore: Winds will be East to southeasterly at 10 to 15 knots becoming variable about 10 knots early in the morning then becoming north to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots in the middle of the day, with seas around the 1m mark and 1-1.5m of swell. Cougar One skipper Nat Turner fished Double Island Point over the weekend for plenty of big scarlet sea perch, jewfish, venus tusk , snapper, pearl perch and goldband snapper. Dolphin fish, cobia, spanish mackerel, grass sweetlip, coral trout, snapper and venus tusk fish from Sunshine Reef. Deep End fishing charters fished the northern Banks for pig fish, venus tusk, pearl perch, slatey bream and hussar. Pan size snapper, mackerel, moses perch, estuary cod and grassy sweetlip from Coolum Reef. Sweetlip, moses perch, spangled emperor and Venus tusk fish from Caloundra 12 mile. Spotty mackerel and small snapper form Caloundra 5 mile.

Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2019-11-27

Offshore: Conditions will be a bit choppy today particularly out wide with winds, northerly 15 to 20 knots tending northwesterly early in the morning then tending northwest to northeasterly in the morning , with seas 1 to 2 metres Tomorrow will have great conditions, with winds north to northwesterly 10 to 15 knots turning east to northeasterly during the morning and seas below 1 metre. Cougar One skipper Nat Turner ran a nine hour charter to Double Island Point on Saturday. We had pretty good conditions with light northerly winds and little current run. The fishing was nothing short of exceptional. We bagged out on snapper in a few minutes while the pearl perch and goldband snapper stood out. Then on Sunday Nat went back to DIP where the day was all about the scarlet sea perch, nearly everyone on the boat landed one, along with plenty of snapper, pearl perch, jewfish and venus tusk fish. Dolphin fish, sweetlip, coral trout, snapper and venus tusk fish from Sunshine Reef. Deep End fishing charters fished the northern Banks for pig fish, venus tusk, pearl perch, slatey bream and hussar. Some good size Morwong, pan size snapper, moses perch, estuary cod, grassy sweetlip and big Cobia from Coolum Reef. Sweetlip, moses perch, spangled emperor and Venus tusk fish from Caloundra 12 mile. Spotty mackerel and small snapper form Caloundra 5 mile.

Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2019-11-26

Offshore: Conditions will be a bit choppy today with winds, starting off as northeasterly 10 to 15 knots turning northerly 15 to 20 knots during the morning, with seas 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres by early evening. Tomorrow will maybe have okay conditions close inshore but choppy out wide, with winds north to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots shifting easterly during the afternoon and seas 1 to 2 metres. Local angler Jeff Vere with a Queensland Morwong, aka Blackall or Slatey Bream, taken on a local reef on Sunday.They are surprisingly okay to eat, a lot like a big bream in texture and flavour. No bones at all, so I don't know where the bad rap comes from. A spicy recipe helps add some flavour.

Offshore: Winds will be Northeasterly at 10 to 15 knots, with seas around 1m and 1m of easterly swell. Cougar one fished Double Island Point for gold band snapper, pearl perch to 65cm, cobia, venus tusk fish, moses perch and gold spot cod. Dolphin fish, sweetlip, coral trout, snapper and venus tusk fish from Sunshine Reef. Deep End fishing charters fished the northern Banks for pig fish, venus tusk, pearl perch, slatey bream and hussar. Estuary cod, grassy sweetlip and Cobia from Coolum Reef. Sweetlip, moses perch, spangled emperor and Venus tusk fish from Caloundra 12 mile. Spotty mackerel and small snapper form Caloundra 5 mile.
