Local Fishing Report: Thursday 2020-01-30

Offshore: Wind will be East to northeasterly below 10 knots tending east to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots early in the morning, with seas and swell below 1m. Spotty mackerel in Laguna Bay and big Spanish mackerel up to 130cm and small a small sailfish out from Teewah Beach. Chardon's Reef has had Spanish and spotted mackerel as well as plenty of tuna. Sunshine Reef's had grass sweetlip, venus tusk fish, moses perch, snapper, pearl perch and a large mouth nannygai. Double Island Point has had nannygai, tusk fish, amberjack, squire, sweetlip, cobia, mahi mahi, grass emperor, tuna, moses perch and pearl perch.There's been Spanish and Spotty mackerel, yellowfin and bluefin tuna from the Gneerings. Spotty mackerel and Tuna from Old Women Island. Spotty mackerel and mac tuna out from Coolum. Snapper, Grass sweetlip, good spotty and Spanish mackerel from Caloundra 5 and 12 mile.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Mangrove jack, trevally and the odd queenfish in the lower river system. Flathead from Dog Beach. Big flathead and Gt's from Tewantin. A few good jacks from between the lakes. Whiting from the frying pan and Munna Point.

Maroochydore: Whiting from Twin Waters and the banks out from Picnic Point. Queen fish trevally, mangrove jack, bream and cod lower. Flathead from Petrie Creek. Grunter and whiting from Bli Bli. A few mud crabs in the creek and canals.

Mooloolaba: A few whiting and the odd good buck mud crabs in the Mooloolah canals and from Mountain Creek reach. Grunter, and flathead along Brightwater reach. Mangrove jack, trevally and cod from the Twin Bridges. Bream and flathead from La Balsa Park.

Caloundra: Bream and grass sweetlip from Shelly Beach. Mangrove jack, flathead and mud crabs in Coochin Creek. GT's, mangrove jack, queenfish and and few quality bream in Pelican Waters Canal. Whiting and some big flathead from Golden Beach.

Josh Fountain fished the Mooloolah River over the weekend for this 38cm small spotted javelin fish (also know as a grunter bream).

Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2020-01-29

Offshore: Great conditions today with winds east to northeasterly about 10 knots increasing to 10 to 15 knots in the middle of the day with seas below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres inshore during the afternoon. Tomorrow will be similar with winds east to northeasterly about 10 knots tending east to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots in the early morning and seas around 1 metre. Try Hall's Reef, casting 25gm metal slug lures at the boils, for some quality spotted mackerel. Spotty mackerel in Luguna Bay and big Spanish mackerel up to 130cm off Teewah Beach. Chardon's Reef has had Spanish and spotted mackerel as well as plenty of tuna. Sunshine Reef's had grass sweetlip, venus tusk fish, moses perch, snapper, pearl perch and a large mouth nannygai. Double Island Point has had nannygai, tusk fish, amberjack, squire, sweetlip, cobia, mahi mahi, grass emperor, tuna, moses perch and pearl perch.Try North reef for cobia, moses perch, gold spot cod, venus tusk fish, tuna and grass sweetlip. There's been Spanish and Spotty mackerel, yellowfin and bluefin tuna from the Gneerings. Spotty mackerel and Tuna from Old Women Island. Snapper, Grass sweetlip, good spotty and Spanish mackerel from Caloundra 5 and 12 mile.

Mooloolaba: A few whiting and the odd good buck mud crabs in the Mooloolah canals and from Mountain Creek reach. Mangrove jack trevally and cod from the Twin Bridges. Bream and flathead from La Balsa Park.

Caloundra: Mangrove jack, flathead and mud crabs in Coochin Creek. GT's, mangrove jack, queenfish and and few quality bream in Pelican Waters Canal. Whiting and some big flathead from Golden Beach.

Offshore: Pretty good conditions today with winds east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots with seas around 1 metre. Tomorrow will be similar with winds east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots and below 1 metre, increasing to around 1 metre in the afternoon. Try Hall's Reef, casting 25gm metal slug lures at the boils, for some quality spotted mackerel. Spotty mackerel in Luguna Bay and big Spanish mackerel up to 130cm off Teewah Beach. Chardon's Reef has had Spanish and spotted mackerel as well as plenty of tuna. Sunshine Reef's had grass sweetlip, venus tusk fish, moses perch, snapper, pearl perch and a large mouth nannygai. Trekka 2 skipper Mitch Bertacchini, did a nine hour trip up to Double Island Point. We caught nannygai, tusk fish, amberjack, squire, sweetlip, cobia, mahi mahi, grass emperor, tuna, moses perch and pearl perch.Try North reef for cobia, moses perch, gold spot cod, venus tusk fish, tuna and grass sweetlip. There's been Spanish and Spotty mackerel, yellowfin and bluefin tuna from the Gneerings. Spotty mackerel and Tuna from Old Women Island. Snapper, Grass sweetlip, good spotty and Spanish mackerel from Caloundra 5 and 12 mile.

Maroochydore: Try for good whiting on the sand banks throughout the lower river. Trevally, mangrove jack, bream and cod from the motorway bridge. Mangrove jack in the creeks. A few mud crabs in the creeks, middle river and canals.

Mooloolaba: A few whiting and the odd good buck mud crabs in the Mooloolah canals and from Mountain Creek reach. Mangrove jack and cod from the Twin Bridges. Bream and flathead from La Balsa Park.

Local Fishing Report: Monday 2020-01-27

Offshore: Pretty good conditions today with winds east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots seas below 1 metre. Tomorrow will be similar with winds east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots and seas below 1 metre. Bhay Raynor-Johnston from Peregian Beach and a couple of buddies fished Hall's Reef yesterday morning casting 25gm metal slug lures at the boils, bagged out on spotted mackerel. Spotty mackerel in Luguna Bay and big Spanish mackerel up to 130cm off Teewah Beach. Chardon's Reef has had Spanish and spotted mackerel as well as plenty of tuna. Sunshine Reef's had grass sweetlip, venus tusk fish, moses perch, snapper, pearl perch and a large mouth nannygai. Trekka 2 skipper Mitch Bertacchini, did a nine hour trip up to Double Island Point on Friday. Conditions weren’t too bad with a light northerly wind and a small swell from the northeast. We caught nannygai, tusk fish, amberjack, squire, sweetlip, cobia, mahi mahi, grass emperor, tuna, moses perch and pearl perch.Try North reef for cobia, moses perch, gold spot cod, venus tusk fish, tuna and grass sweetlip. There's been Spanish and Spotty mackerel, yellowfin and bluefin tuna from the Gneerings. Spotty mackerel and Tuna from Old Women Island. Grass sweetlip, spotty and Spanaish mackerel from Caloundra 5 mile.

Offshore: Pretty good conditions today with a bit of northerly chop today and tomorrow with winds northerly 10 to 15 knots turning northeasterly in the early afternoon seas around 1 metre. Also similar conditions on Australia Day with winds east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots and seas around 1 metre. A few good spotty mackerel out in Luguna Bay and big Spanish mackerel up to 130cm off Teewah Beach. Chardon's Reef has had Spanish and spotted mackerel as well as plenty of tuna. Sunshine Reef's had grass sweetlip, venus tusk fish, moses perch, snapper, pearl perch and a large mouth nannygai. Try North reef for cobia, moses perch, gold spot cod, venus tusk fish, tuna and grass sweetlip. There's been Spanish and Spotty mackerel, yellowfin and bluefin tuna from the Gneerings. Spotty mackerel and Tuna from Old Women Island. Grass sweetlip, spotty and Spanaish mackerel from Caloundra 5 mile.

Noosa: Noosa River Fishing Safaris charter this week caught and released, 56cm jack and a 49cm jack also sight cast at it when it chased a golden trevally and a mid 50's flathead further up in Weyba later on in the morning. The jacks went for cut baits and the flathead dived on a prawn. Flathead from Dog Beach. Big flathead and Gt's from Tewantin. A few good jacks from between the lakes. Whiting from the frying pan and Munna Point.
