Local Fishing Report: Monday 2020-01-27

Offshore: Pretty good conditions today with winds east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots seas below 1 metre. Tomorrow will be similar with winds east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots and seas below 1 metre. Bhay Raynor-Johnston from Peregian Beach and a couple of buddies fished Hall's Reef yesterday morning casting 25gm metal slug lures at the boils, bagged out on spotted mackerel. Spotty mackerel in Luguna Bay and big Spanish mackerel up to 130cm off Teewah Beach. Chardon's Reef has had Spanish and spotted mackerel as well as plenty of tuna. Sunshine Reef's had grass sweetlip, venus tusk fish, moses perch, snapper, pearl perch and a large mouth nannygai. Trekka 2 skipper Mitch Bertacchini, did a nine hour trip up to Double Island Point on Friday. Conditions weren’t too bad with a light northerly wind and a small swell from the northeast. We caught nannygai, tusk fish, amberjack, squire, sweetlip, cobia, mahi mahi, grass emperor, tuna, moses perch and pearl perch.Try North reef for cobia, moses perch, gold spot cod, venus tusk fish, tuna and grass sweetlip. There's been Spanish and Spotty mackerel, yellowfin and bluefin tuna from the Gneerings. Spotty mackerel and Tuna from Old Women Island. Grass sweetlip, spotty and Spanaish mackerel from Caloundra 5 mile.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Noosa River Fishing Safaris charter caught and released, 56cm jack and a 49cm jack and a mid 50's flathead further up in Weyba. Flathead from Dog Beach. Big flathead and Gt's from Tewantin. A few good jacks from between the lakes. Whiting from the frying pan and Munna Point.

Maroochydore: Try for good whiting on the sand banks throughout the lower river. Trevally, mangrove jack, bream and cod from the motorway bridge. Mangrove jack in the creeks. A few mud crabs in the creeks, middle river and canals.

Mooloolaba: A few whiting and the odd good buck mud crabs in the Mooloolah canals and from Mountain Creek reach. Mangrove jack and cod from the Twin Bridges. Bream and flathead from La Balsa Park.

Caloundra: Mangrove jack, flathead and mud crabs in Coochin Creek. GT's, mangrove jack, queenfish and and few quality bream in Pelican Waters Canal. Whiting and some big flathead from Golden Beach.

Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2020-01-25

Offshore: Pretty good conditions today with a bit of northerly chop today and tomorrow with winds northerly 10 to 15 knots turning northeasterly in the early afternoon seas around 1 metre. Also similar conditions on Australia Day with winds east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots and seas around 1 metre. A few good spotty mackerel out in Luguna Bay and big Spanish mackerel up to 130cm off Teewah Beach. Chardon's Reef has had Spanish and spotted mackerel as well as plenty of tuna. Offshore: More choppy northerly sea breezes today and tomorrow with winds North to north easterly 15 to 20 knots easing to 10 to 15 knots early in the morning. Northeasterly winds increasing to 15 to 20 knots with inshore afternoon sea breezes with seas 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to 1 metre during the morning, then increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the afternoon. Also similar conditions tomorrow with winds Northerly 15 to 20 knots easing to 10 to 15 knots early in the morning. Winds tending northeasterly 15 to 20 knots with inshore afternoon sea breezes. A few good spotty mackerel out in Luguna Bay. Chardon's Reef has had Spanish and spotted mackerel as well as plenty of tuna. Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2020-01-21

Offshore: More choppy northerly sea breezes today and tomorrow with winds northerly 15 to 20 knots easing to 10 to 15 knots in the early morning, then increasing to 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon with seas 1 to 1.5 metres. Tomorrow will be choppy to rough in the afternoon as well with winds northerly 15 to 20 knots easing to 10 to 15 knots in the early morning. Winds increasing to 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon, reaching up to 25 knots offshore and seas 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres offshore south of Maroochydore during the evening. May be better to stay closer in and in sheltered waters by Wednesday afternoon. Cougar One skipper Nat Turner and his crew fished Chardon's Reef on Sunday morning on a five hour charter. We opted to troll hard bodies and cast metal slugs most of the morning due to all the surface activity. We landed Spanish and spotted mackerel as well as plenty of tuna. We lost a few to sharks and bite-offs but it made for an exciting morning for our guests. Sunshine Reef's had grass sweetlip, venus tusk fish, moses perch, snapper, pearl perch and a large mouth nannygai. Try North reef for cobia, moses perch, gold spot cod, venus tusk fish, tuna and grass sweetlip. Theres been Spanish and Spotty mackerel, yellow fin and bluefin tuna from the Gneerings. Spotty mackerel and Tuna from Old Women Island. Grass sweetlip, spotty and spanaish mackerel from Caloundra 5 mile.

Maroochydore: Whiting feeding on the sand banks throughout the lower river. Try for trevally, mangrove jack, bream and cod from the motorway bridge. Bream, flathead and cod from Oyster bank Road. Mangrove jack in the creeks. A few mud crabs in the creeks, middle river and canals.

Mooloolaba: Big whiting and the odd good buck mud crabs in the Mooloolah canals and from Mountain Creek reach. Mangrove jack and cod from the Twin Bridges. Bream and flathead from La Balsa Park.

Caloundra: Mangrove jack, flathead and mud crabs in Coochin Creek. Big GT's, mangrove jack, queenfish and and few quality bream in Pelican Waters Canal. Whiting and some big flathead from Golden Beach.

Deep End Fishing Charters out of Mooloolaba with a recent catch of Mahi Mahi or Dolphin Fish from the Barwon Banks.

Local Fishing Report: Monday 2020-01-20

Offshore: Winds will be North to northwesterly at 10 to 15 knots becoming northeasterly 15 to 20 knots in the late afternoon then tending northerly in the late evening, with seas below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres by early evening. Noosa Blue Fishing Charters fished Sunshine Reef for grass sweetlip, venus tusk fish, moses perch, snapper, pearl perch and a large mouth nannygai. Fishing Offshore Noosa fished North reef for cobia, moses perch, gold spot cod, venus tusk fish, tuna and grass sweetlip. Sunshine Reef has also had good spanish mackerel and yellow fin tuna. Smithy Fishing Charters caught mackerel, yellow fin and bluefin tuna from the Gneerings. Spotty mackerel and Tuna from Old Women Island. Grass sweetlip, spotty and spanaish mackerel from Caloundra 5 mile.

Caloundra: Sand crabs in the northern passage. Mangrove jack, flathead and mud crabs in Coochin Creek. Big GT's, mangrove jack, queenfish and and few quality bream in Pelican waters Canal. Whiting and some big flathead from Golden Beach.
