2011 Fishing Reports

Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 15/11/2011

Noosa: School Mackerel and sweetlip from Sunshine reef on floated pilchards. Mangrove jacks from Tewantin, in between the lakes and in Noosa Sound. Tailor and trevally from woods bay and in the back of the sound. Whiting throughout the lower reaches.

Maroochydore: Mangrove jack to 2.7kg in the cod hole. Mangrove jacks and trevally in Petrie Creek. Good numbers of whiting from the black banks and chambers Island. School jew and flathead between the Bli Bli bridge and Petrie creek mouth. Mud crabs in Maroochy Waters and around Bli Bli Islands.

Kawana: Spanish mackerel from Coolum and the Blinker. Grass sweetlip and snapper from the Inner Gneerings. Dart, whiting and flathead along the Kawana Stretch. Whiting and flathead from the Sand Basin at La Balsa park and off the base of the Mooloolaba spit rock wall. Mud crabs in the upper reaches and blue swimmers near the mouth.

Caloundra: School mackerel and grass sweetlip on the 5 mile. Flathead and bream around Military Jetty on live herring. Whiting between the powerboat club and the mouth of Bells on live worms and nippers. Tarpon, trevally and chopper tailor in Pelican Waters.

Local Fishing Report: Monday 14/11/2011

Noosa:. Mangrove jacks from Tewantin, in between the lakes and in Noosa Sound. Tailor and trevally from woods bay and in the back of the sound. Flathead along the Noosaville stretch. Whiting throughout the lower reaches.

Maroochydore: Mangrove jack to 2.7kg in the cod hole and a few good jacks and trevally in Petrie Creek over night. Whiting to 35cm around Goat and Channel Islands. Chopper tailor and flathead from Picnic Point. Mud crabs in Maroochy Waters and around Bli Bli Islands.

Paul Mabb from Caboolture was working soft  plastics with Brian from Anglers Advantage in the middle reaches of the Maroochy River when he hooked this 55cm flathead.

Noosa: Teraglin jew, snapper and sweetlip to 2.4kg from North Reef. Snapper and sweetlip from Sunshine Reef. Mangrove jacks, trevally and whiting in the lakes and Webya creek. Diamond and golden trevally from woods bay and in the back of the sound on surface lures.

Maroochydore: Mangrove jack in the middle and upper reaches. Whiting to 35cm around Goat and Channel Islands. Chopper tailor and flathead from Picnic Point. Mud crabs in Maroochy Waters and around Bli Bli Islands.

Kawana: Grass sweetlip to 3kg from the Inner Gneerings. Snapper, grass sweetlip, cobia and yellowtail kingfish from Murphy’s Reef. Whiting and flathead from the Sand Basin at La Balsa park. Mud crabs in the upper reaches and blue swimmers near the mouth.

Caloundra: Snapper from Caloundra 12 mile during the dawn and dusk. Good numbers of trevally and bream in Pelican waters canals. Flathead and bream off the boardwalk on live herring and prawns. Whiting and bream from the Blue hole, powerboat club and from the bar.

Danny Brooks christened “Just Jiggin” at Old Women Island with a couple of grassy sweetlip to 3kg on soft plastics.


Local Fishing Report: Saturday 12/11/2011

Noosa: Teraglin jew, snapper and sweetlip to 2.4kg from North Reef. Snapper and sweetlip from Sunshine Reef. Mangrove jacks, trevally and whiting in the lakes and Webya creek. Diamond and golden trevally from woods bay and in the back of the sound on surface lures.

Maroochydore: Mangrove jack and flathead from Dunethin rock. Chopper tailor and bream from the river mouth and Cotton tree during the incoming tide. Good size flathead from the Cod hole and on the Bli Bli flats.

Kawana: Tusk fish and snapper to 4.5kg on soft plastics from Inner gneerings. Good numbers of Whiting and flathead from the Sand Basin, La Balsa park. Mud crabs in the upper reaches and blue swimmers near the mouth.

Caloundra: Snapper from Caloundra 12 mile during the dawn and dusk. Good numbers of trevally and bream in Pelican waters canals. Flathead and bream off the boardwalk on live herring and prawns. Whiting and bream from the Blue hole, powerboat club and from the bar.


Local Fishing Report: Friday 11/11/2011

Noosa: Teraglin jew, snapper and sweetlip to 2.4kg from North Reef. Mangrove jacks, trevally and whiting in the lakes and Webya creek. Diamond and golden trevally from woods bay on surface lures, live bait and soft plastics.  

Maroochydore: Mangrove jack and flathead from Dunethin rock. Golden trevally from the Cod hole during the start of the run out tide. Good numbers of whiting from Mudjimba beach, the river mouth and Cotton tree on live worms and nippers.

Kawana: Tusk fish and snapper to 4.5kg on soft plastics from Inner gneerings. Cobia to 4kg , tusk fish and Yellow tail King fish up to 10kg from the Blinker. Whiting and flathead from the Sand Basin, La Balsa park and on the flats above McKenzie’s bridge. Mud crabs in the upper reaches and blue swimmers near the mouth.

Caloundra: Snapper from Caloundra 12 mile during the dawn and dusk. Good numbers of trevally and bream  in Pelican waters canals. Flathead and bream off the boardwalk on live herring and prawns. Good size mangrove jacks from upper reaches of Bells creek on live bait.
